Students Walk the Stage at Kent State’s Lavender Graduation

students were honored for their accomplishments and bravery at Friday’s Lavender Graduation ceremony.

The event is held annually by the LGBTQ Student Center. It recognizes that queer students often have a harder time graduating because of a lack of resources and support, according to Director Ken Ditlevson.

This year, 71 graduates were honored. Achievement awards were also presented to groups and individuals who have made contributions or improvements to the LGBTQ community at and in the surrounding areas.

The ceremony closed with the presentation of rainbow stoles to the graduating students, which they can wear to commencement in May.
