Connecticut's governor who signed the nation's first voluntarily passed civil union bill will not be running for re-election

Connecticut’s Governor M.Jodi Rell has announced that she will not be running for re-election next year, according to an article by the Associated Press.

Rell has been Connecticut’s Governor since 2004 when former Governor John Rowland resigned.

During her time as Governor both her and her husband had battles cancer, though she assures the people that her and her husband’s health are fine. She also signed the nation’s first voluntarily passed civil union bill.

With her time coming to an end she plans to focus on the states budget, something that has decreased her popularity with the public and has become a major problem.
