Republican governor candidate names gay running mate

A GOP candidate in the Massachusetts governor race chose an openly gay politician as his running mate Monday.

Moderate Republican Charlie Baker, who has hopes of becoming the Massachusetts governor, deemed an out-and-proud politician as his running mate Monday morning.

State Sen. Richard Tisei, also the Senate minority leader, was announced as Baker’s choice in a Twitter post.

According to the tweet, Baker is “excited about this team.”
