2010 Straight for Equality entertainment award goes to…

PFLAG National will award its Straight for Equality award to one well known stage and screen legend.

Liza Minnelli will be recognized for her long-time dedication and support of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues. PFLAG National is an organization for the family, parents and supporters of LGBT individuals.

Minnelli has previously won Tony, Academy and Emmy awards for her dedication and performance in other endeavors. Now, adding Straight for Equality to her list of accomplishments, Minnelli will receive her award at the Straight for Equality Awards Gala on May 1 at the New York Marriott Marquis.

According to theatermania.com, “Straight for Equality is a project of PFLAG National that was launched in 2007 to invite, educate, and empower straight allies to demonstrate their support for their LGBT friends and family.”
