ABC made history Jan. 30, becoming the first ever station to broadcast a gay sex scene on daytime television. The scene, featured on the networks long running soap opera ‘One Life to Live,’ set up a love scene between Oliver and Kyle (Scott Evans and Brett Claywell) at the end of new years eve.

The decision to run the scene comes as a surprise to some critics after and earlier choice by ABC to cancel numerous performance by Adam Lambert. The cancelations came soon after Lambert’s American Music Awards performance in which he displayed erotic behavior between members of both sexes.

“Yes, sadly friends, ABC has cancelled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE,” Lambert said. “Don’t blame them. It’s the FCC heat.”

ABC allowing the scene to happen wasn’t the only surprise for some viewers. Another surprise comes from one of the actors involved. Scott Evans (Oliver) is actually gay both on and off screen. This achievement has had bloggers and news sites across the nation posting since the event occurred earlier in the week.

“But what I found really incredible is that one of the male actors is out of closet in real life,” said Emma Ruby-Sachs, 365gay blogger said. “This means that “One Life to Live” actually showed a gay actor having gay sex on television. As many out actors can tell you, it’s one thing to play a homosexual and another to actually be a homosexual. How incredible that Scott Evans (Oliver) gets to do both.”
