Obama promises to repeal DADT this year.

Obama promises to repeal DADT by year's end.

President Obama’s State of the Union Address may had highlighted on creating and maintaining jobs, but not without leaving a promise to the LGBT to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell by the end of this year.

“This year, I will work with Congress and our military to finally repeal the law that denies gay Americans the right to serve the country they love because of who they are,” President Obama said.

Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is a military policy passed in 1993 that bans openly gay officers from serving in the military.
