LOS ANGELES – In a recent interview with Playboy, Mayer was quoted in the online March issue stating racial and gay slurs. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), posted on their blog, asking people to tell Mayer to apologize for his comments via twitter.
According to advocate.com on Feb. 12, he was quoted as using the N – word addressing African Americans when asked about his black fans and the F – word, for gays.
GLAAD’s Entertainment Media Manager, Jonathan Rosales told them, “Everyday, countless LGBT people including LGBT people of color are subjected to harassment, ridicule and even violence because of their sexual orientation or gender identity,” Rosales continued. “We expect more from John Mayer and ask that he apologize.”
Mayer did carry out their wishes and apologized on twitter for the racial comment. The apology for the F – word was unfounded.
