The Housing Non-discrimination Act submitted late last week would make it illegal to deny housing based on sexual orientation and gender identity, the Pittsburgh Progressive Examiner stated.

If passed, the bill would make it illegal to discriminate against LGBTQ persons while they look to rent, own or finance a home.

Congressman Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) initiated the legislation, which he said “the federal government has failed to protect these individuals’ access to one of the most basic securities — housing.”
