I don’t know about any of you, but I’m running low on cash and cute clothes. And, to top it off, snow is sure to be on its way soon. And, as if it wasn’t already topped off enough, finals week is coming up, and we have nine days to get our classes wrapped up. And, I just got sick again after being sick for a month. Things kinda suck right now, no?
I’ll be completely honest with you guys: I’m too sick, too stressed, and too poor right now to care about what people choose to wear every day. Yesterday, I broke all of my personal rules and went to class looking like a legitimate pile of dirty laundry.
Oh well. Sometimes you just need a sweats week.
With everything that’s going on in the semester, things are getting pretty hectic. While some of you are continuing to make me proud and dress cute daily, I strongly recommend taking a week off your vanity fair and just bumming it for a while. I admit that you probably won’t feel crazysexycool, but it’ll give you one less thing to worry about as the semester comes to a close.
I’m a firm believer in thrift stores. I’ve gotten my favorite t-shirts and sweatpants at random thrift stores, and even though I feel a little dirty after touching all those clothes, I can stock up for Lazy Week for like, five bucks.
I can hear some of you now: “Ew. Thrift stores are gross.” or “Why would I buy used clothes?” and even “Ew. Diseases? No thanks.”
First of all, get off your high horses. Second of all, the stuff you buy clearly should be washed heavily before worn—this doesn’t mean their shit is diseased, so don’t be ignorant. Third of all, who cares if the clothes are used? Seriously, I don’t understand.
If you’ve ever borrowed a shirt from a girlfriend, or sweats from a boyfriend, you’ve worn used clothing! Seems like a big “duh,” but there’s really no difference except you actually know whose clothes you’re wearing. And, this seems like a big deal, but as long as you wash whatever you buy, it’s a mute point.
Thrift stores also help out the community. If you need more convincing, check out this blog post from Blissfully Domestic.com.
Thrift stores are awesome. You’ll save hella money, find some pretty cool shit, and you’ll also stand out.
Just don’t forget to wash your hands.
