Murder in the Caribbeans

A yet-to-be-named Kingston resident is murdered, as of yet there are no known suspects (though there is mention of a fellow by the name of 'torch bearer').
Police say it was either gay hate, or a chalk deal gone horribly wrong.

Jamaica, the land of Bob Marley, Rastafarianism, and the word ‘bumbaclot’ is not a very fun place to be if your gay.

Jamaican gays–especially those in poor neighborhoods–suffer frequent abuse that usually goes unreported.  According to the Associated Press, this is due to “anti-gay stigma and a sodomy law banning sex between men.”

One Jamaican man, a certain 26 year old who was a member of Jamaica’s one gay rights group, The Jamaica Forum for Lesbians, All-Sexuals and Gays, was stabbed behind an insurance building in Kingston.

Police were not quick to return calls seeking information on the investigation into the murder, and the Jamaica Forum has has told the AP that “While the reason behind his death is not yet known, allegations are that his life had been under threat for some time.”

Because of the “anti-gay stigma”, some question whether the police will take this case seriously.
