Finding Your Smell With Aromatherapy

Today we mix in some sweet scents with the warm weather, making this weekend one of your most relaxing yet.

No matter how civilized we become, humans are still animals.  This means that sometimes we can be affected by things that have no basis in rationale.  Things like scents.

This is where aromatherapy comes in.  Aromatherapy.com defines aromatherapy as the practice of  using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being.

The aroma of these essential oils–called essential because they are the distilled essences of the plants–is widely believed to stimulate brain function.  They can also be rubbed on the skin and absorbed to promote whole body healing.

The right aroma can bring any day back from the brink of failure, such as Jasmine, which not only can be used as an anti depressant, but can be used as a disinfectant.

Aromatherapy is largely a form of alternative medicine, but it’s growing in use and its relaxing properties cannot go ignored.
