WASHINGTON D.C. — LGBT Equality Caucus members signed a letter to the President and House and Senate leaders showing support for UAFA and CIR Tuesday, according to Immigration Equality.
UAFA, Uniting American Families Act, and CIR, Comprehensive Immigration Reform, would grant equal immigration opportunities for same-sex couples and LGBT persons, respectfully. Currently, only heterosexual spouses are offered citizenship to current or permanent US citizens, according to About.com.
The letter, which included signatures from four other immigration caucuses, is meant to show voting potential for both acts, according to Immigration Equality.
