A district court in New Jersey ruled being called “gay” is not grounds for defamation, according to the Advocate.com.
Citing the state’s civil union laws, Judge Joel Pisano said being called “gay” would not defame a person so as to harm his or her reputation within the community because “gay” is not generally seen as a bad characteristic.
The case came after a photographer sued two disc jockeys for copyright infringement and defamation, the report stated.
