
Lawmakers in Virginia rejected a bill that would protect gay state employees from discrimination, according to a report on the Advocate.com Tuesday.
Governor Bob McDonnell issued an executive order banning various forms of discrimination with the exception of discrimination based on sexual orientation, according to the article. McDonnell said he would leave it to the legislature to decide.
The bill passed the senate, but was defeated by a show-of-hands vote in a house subcommittee.
