American Idol season eight runner-up Adam Lambert released his new album today. However, his Sunday performance at the American Music Awards left viewers with various questions about his act and sexuality.
Lambert’s sexual performance surprised the audience and media outlets alike. Also, during mid-song, he took the time to make out with his allegedly straight male keyboard player in what Lambert later told CNN was not part of his routine and “in the moment.”
He defends his act by suggesting a double standard for male performers while female performers push to the extreme and says anyone objecting is acting on a form of discrimination.
“Female performers have been doing this for years — pushing the envelope about sexuality — and the minute a man does it, everybody freaks out,” Lambert told Rolling Stone magazine.
