VALLEJO, Calif. — After denouncing the lifestyles of gays and lesbians in a New York Times article, residents are asking for the censure of their mayor.
The New York Times story “Faith and Tolerance Collide in Vallejo” quoted Osby Davies saying “They’re committing sin and that sin will keep them out of heaven.”
“But you don’t hate the person. You hate the sin that they commit,” The mayor of the bay area city added.
In recent years, the city has seen an influx of gay residents moving in. Vallejo residents say the city has became so diverse that evangicals may feel threatened by their presense.
