The Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus will continue its annual holiday performances starting Dec. 4 with its show entitled Joy! The chorus has performed the holiday show in Central Ohio the past 10 years.
The 80-man chorus formed 20 years ago and mainly consists of Central Ohio gay men. The holiday show combines religious and secular holiday songs, even some original music written by the assistant director Tim Sarsany.
Executive director of the group, Matthew Arnold told Columbuslocalnews.com no two years’ performances are repeated or similar.
“It runs the gamut of different types of holiday music,” he said.
Sarsany said all concerts are held in churches for better sound but also to help bring religious and gay communities together. All performances include a full orchestra and sign language interpreters, but the group’s dancing and showmanship is toned down for the holiday shows.
