Heritage of Pride announced the girl whose prom was canceled when she asked to bring her girlfriend as a parade marshal, according to its Web site.

Constance McMillen gained notoriety recently from the homophobia of her school and the support from the gay community.

McMillen joins Lt. Dan Choi and Judy Shepard as a grand marshal for the 2010 New York City Pride March, the site stated.

“I’m really honored and touched to be asked to be part of this celebration,” McMillen told Heritage of Pride.
