Lady Gaga is set to release an exclusive edition of her “Born This Way” album, which includes remixes and three extra studio cuts, at Target.
As it may be known, Target Corp., the Minneapolis-based retail giant, used $150,000 to support MN Forward, a political action committee that is pro-buisness. It supported Tom Emmer, who ran for governor of Minnesota in 2010. Emmer supported an amendment to ban gay marriage. According to billboard.com, Emmer had also made donations to a Christian rock organization. There is nothing wrong with supporting a Christian organization, but this one, advocated violence and death against gays. Target then went on to say that they were sorry, but yet they didn’t stop donating to those that have anti-gay voting records.
Now what is the famous pop star, who supports LGBT rights, doing making exclusive deals with Target?
In an interview with billboard.com, Gaga explained her hesitation with the idea to partner with Target. Gaga had a meeting with her manager Troy Carter, and “the entire executive staff” of Target. In the meeting they discussed the condition in which the deal would take place. “Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they’ve made in the past…” Gaga said in regards to the Target deal.
For all those who may think that Lady Gaga is turning her back on the LGBT community, she isn’t. In fact she’s doing her best to help. “Whatever you can do to assure my fans and the gay community that I have their back, please do.” Gaga told billboard.
