
Cyndi Lauper plans to open an LGBTQ-inclusive youth homeless shelter in New York, according to DNAinfo.com.
The shelter, called The True Colors Residence, will open in winter 2011 in Harlem and contain some 30 studio apartments, according to the article.
“We need to make sure we’re taking care of them,” Lauper said of LGBTQ youth in New York. “This is the next generation of the LGBT community.”
Overall, the project is expected to cost $11 million, funded through Laupers True Colors charity and city funds.
