Last Friday, Alyssa-Isake Whitner refused to speak one word during her three classes. She said the professors that noticed didn’t mind. In fact some of them took it positively. Like other students around Kent campus Friday, the junior exploratory major was participating in the Day of Silence, a day-long event in which students stay silent to protest bullying against the LGBT community and simulate how far in the closet bullying pushes members of the LGBT community.
