Hi! My name is Kat and I’m a lesbian. As a lesbian I have noticed a lot of people in the sapphic community love and have cats as pets, I myself have a cat named Nicki Minaj. This inspired me to capture the love lesbians have for their cats on camera.
Lesbian: Olivia Doherty
Cat: Skippy River Doherty
About Them: My name is Liv and I’m a junior at Kent majoring in journalism. I got Skippy a year ago when he was still a baby! I named him after Skippyjon Jones, because when he was a kitten they looked the exact same. He is my little buddy and the ultimate diva. He loves to play and watch TV with me. He has a huge personality and loves to talk.
Lesbian: Kay Methe
Cat: Edalyn, Eda for short
About Them: I adopted Eda in 2021 when she was 6 months old from my local shelter as a Valentine’s gift from my partners to me. The previous Christmas, my soul dog, Gus, had passed away abruptly. After some healing, I decided I was ready to get another animal, specifically a cat. My mom had stumbled on her on the website. Her shelter name “Catily Portlan.” She caught my eye and my dad and I went to see and adopt her that day.
The ironic thing is, when I was much younger, about 7, I begged for a fluffy grey cat. And the deal had become that if we moved or one of the dogs passed, I could get a cat. So there I was, ten years later and right after my dog’s passing, adopting a fluffy grey kitten with white markings on her feet and face that almost matched my dog’s perfectly. I like to think it was his way of telling me that she was for me and that she’d take care of me the way that he always had.
