Senator Joe Lieberman yesterday introduced a Senate bill seeking to repeal the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, CNN.com reported.
The bill would not only repeal the controversial policy, but also “prohibit discrimination against service members on the basis of sexual orientation” and establish Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at more prestigious colleges, according to Politico.
“To exclude one group of Americans from serving in the armed forces,” a written statement from Lieberman stated, “is contrary to our fundamental principles as outlined in the Declaration of Independence.”
Previously, a separate bill to repeal the policy was introduced to the House.
