TV ads supporting marriage equality started airing in New Jersey Tuesday, despite the defeat of Governor Jon Corzine. Corzine is a strong gay rights supporter, but he lost to opponent Chris Christie, who opposes gay marriage.
The two ads from Garden State Equality propose a legislative measure for same-sex marriage to occur before Corzine leaves office in 2010. Both ads encourage voters to support the bill which will go to the ballot between now and January.

One 60-second ad features a lesbian couple, Louise and Marsha, who have been together for 20 years and have accumulated health insurance debt from their special needs children. The ad says these costs could have been avoided with marriage equality rights.
The other 30-second ad starts today and includes a married woman, Emilia, saying same-sex couples should be allowed to marry just as she did.
