In its annual survey of television shows, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation found that 3 percent of characters on scripted broadcast TV shows in 2009-2010 are gay, up from 2.6 percent the previous year. That’s 18 LGBT characters out of the 600 on broadcast TV.

The numbers dropped slightly on cable shows, with 25 this year, down from 32 last year. The survey excluded shows on Logo and Here!
