New York Gov. David Paterson announced a special session for state legislators to meet Nov. 10 to address the state bill legalizing same-sex marriage. Legislators will have the opportunity to vote on the bill during the session.

The assembly passed the marriage bill this past spring for the second time, but the state Senate was never able to agree on voting. The state’s regular session ended in June, but Paterson called for the special session in order to address budget issues and unfinished business, according to WCBS-TV.

“The special session is expected to include a possible vote by the senate to give final legislative approval to a same-sex marriage bill,” WCBS-TV reported. “Paterson has predicted the bill will be passed and signed into law in coming weeks.”
