The New York state senate was expecting a vote for the marriage equality bill Tuesday, but the senate announced last minute via Twitter the session would adjourn until Wednesday. This again pushes the equality bill voting back. The session will begin again Wednesday morning with marriage advocates hopeful of the vote happening then.
State senators were asked to reconvene Tuesday for an extraordinary session before the adjournment was made. Several marriage equality advocates said they were expecting the vote to come later in the day until the announcement was made.
Several LGBT leaders also traveled to Albany Tuesday to pressure senators to pass the bill. The marriage equality bill passed the assembly in May but has yet to be voted on in the state senate.
