The pastor of the SaddleBack Megahurch and a leader of evangilical christians released a message Thursday clarifying his position against a new anti-gay bill that was introduced a few months ago in Uganda.
The press release was also sent to christian pastors in Uganda in hopes they could spread his message.
The bill, if passed would put to death any homosexual with HIV or AIDS, or any person charged with more than one count of homosexuality, among other circumstances that would meet the bill’s “aggravated homosexuality” charge.
The message comes after much open speculation when Warren told Newsweek that his stance on the Uganda legislation was nuetral.
Although in his message, Warren condemned executing or criminalizing gays and lesbians in Uganda, he reiterated his stance that sex outside of any marriage that is one man or one woman is not what God intended for.
