An average person might not recognize the name Mica Penniman. More people know him as Mika, a pop singer whose flirty and catchy music and outlandish dress made him a star. For the first time since gaining momentum in 2007, he is finally addressing his sexuality.
The Grammy-nominated artist has never confirmed his sexuality to the public, with reason.
“I never talk about anything to do with my sexuality, I don’t think I need to,” Mika said to the London Evening Standard in 2007. His first and five-time platinum album entitled Life in Cartoon Motion gave him bubblegum hits like “Grace Kelly” and “Love Today.”
His silenced sexuality has created enough mystery that he said if it must be said, he will call himself bisexual.
“I’ve never ever labeled myself,” Mika told the Netherlands’ Gay & Night, “But having said that, I’ve never limited my life. I’ve never limited who I sleep with. … Call me whatever you want. Call me bisexual, if you need a term for me.”
Mika released his second album today entitled The Boy Who Knew Too Much.
