The board of trustees at Bowling Green State University ruled unanimously that domestic partner benefits will now be provided to full-time employees.
Trustee Debra Ryan, who introduced the proposal, said that in response to three staff members leaving the school because of the lack of benefits, extending the measure will help the university to hire a larger, qualified, and diverse staff.
“To continue not offering benefits to domestic partners impacts our ability to attract and retain high-quality faculty and staff today and into the future,” she said at the board meeting.
BGSU is the eighth four-year Ohio school to be added to the list of institutions that offer such benefits; a list that does not yet include Kent State University.
