Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee has grabbed the attention of millions on the web after the release of an interview with a New Jersey college magazine last week where he compared gay marriage to incest, polygamy, and drug use.
Certainly not hesitant to share his views on the issue of gay rights, Huckabee has frequently commented that it would be wrong for America to “accommodate” such individuals that do not fit the “ideal type” of lifestyle.
“That would be like saying, well there’s there are a lot of people who like to use drugs so let’s go ahead and accommodate those who want to use drugs. There are some people who believe in incest, so we should accommodate them. There are people who believe in polygamy, should we accommodate them?” Huckabee said.
A potential 2012 presidential candidate, Huckabee is adamant that the country prevent the “legitimization of immorality”, ensure that gays continue to be prevented from the military, and feels AIDS victims need to simply be “confined”.
“I feel homosexuality is an aberrant, unnatural, and sinful lifestyle,” he wrote, in response to a question about gays in the military.
