After Carrie Prejean was dethroned from the title “Miss California USA” less than a year ago, history repeats itself with a different pageant contestant, according to The Associated Press.

The 23-year-old Miss California USA contestant, Lauren Ashley, spoke out against gay marriage just as Prejean had done, before getting dismissed for it. Prejean just recently reached a settlement with the pageant coordinators on dueling lawsuits over her statements, as reported by The Associated Press.

Ashley told the media that same-sex marriage goes against God and the Bible and is amused by the controversy she has created.

Her opinions strongly irritated Beverly Hills Mayor Nancy Kransne.

“I have no idea who she is,” said Kransne. “She doesn’t live in Beverly Hills.”

Krasne said she was very upset to see such statements by a beauty pageant contestant representing the name of Beverly Hills, “which has a long history of tolerance and respect.”

The mayor ended her last comment on the issue strongly with, “Everybody’s entitled to an opinion, and she can have one, but not with my city’s name attached to it.”
