Kent’s Rainbow Weekend helped the community celebrate National Coming Out Day, applied a fresh coat of color to downtown and reminded us all that hate is such a drag.
Local volunteers and members of Kent State University’s LGBTQ+ clubs hung decorations earlier in the week to prepare for the pride-filled weekend.
Kent’s downtown hosted the Drag Race 5K, rainbow and makers markets. The festive weekend also included drag shows, artistic opportunities and gallery shows, a gender affirming clothing shop and open-mic sessions.
