Approximately 5,000 nude Australians posed in front of the Sydney Opera House to celebrate Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras last weekend. Artist Spencer Tunick added the opera house to his nearly 100 photo backdrops, depicting the vulnerability of life in a rough city landscape, according to Reuters.
Tunick’s models felt unified in the experience.
“I thought it could be a bit awkward, but it’s funny because when you’re naked and everybody else is naked, you feel like you’re dressed, because everybody looks the same,” said Steven Anglier, who wore a wig so he could stand out in the photo.
Although Tunick has faced arrest seven times in the United States for his art, he continues to work internationally.
